In 1811, James Fenimore Cooper moved to the Angevine Estate in Scarsdale, New York, following his marriage to Susan DeLancey, whose family owned the property. Here Cooper built a cottage known as Angevine Manor, honoring the name of his wife's descendants. In 1900, the building was moved to Mamaroneck, New York, where it became a gas station and tavern.
